Day one is in the books for the State High School Volleyball tournament in Casper and the defending 4A champion was eliminated. Natrona lost to Cheyenne East in 4 games, 25-20, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-21. Kelly Walsh advanced to the semi-final round beating Gillette in 3 straight 25-16, 28-26 and 25-17. In the other 4A match-ups, Cheyenne Central defeated Riverton 3 games to one and Sheridan defeated Green River 3 games to none.

in 3A, defending champion Powell moved to the 2nd round with a 3-0 win over Newcastle. Douglas defeated Jackson 3-2, Mountain View got by Worland 3-1 and Rawlins nipped Lovell in an epic battle, 3 games to two.

Over in 2A, Lyman beat Burns 3-0, Wright over Thermopolis 3-0, Southeast defeated Shoshoni 3-2 and Big Horn defeated Wind River 3-0. In 1A, Snake River beat Upton 3-1, Encampment rallied to defeat Hulett 3-2, Cokeville over Lingle 3-2 and Kaycee defeated Burlington 3-1. The semi-finals will start late Friday afternoon at the Events Center and the finals will start at 4pm on Saturday.
