Reservations are now being accepted for what organizers say is Wyoming’s largest breakfast event. The 20th Annual Awards & Recognition to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Casper Events Center. It starts with the breakfast buffet at 6:30 a.m. and the program will start at 7:00 a.m.

There is no cost for tickets and/or table reservations but instead, all ticket holders are expected to make a contribution to support the thousands of youth impacted by the Club.

Each year the Club chooses a special honoree who has made a significant contribution to the betterment of the community and state. This year, the honoree is John Jorgensen "who has spent more than thirty years impacting higher education as part of the Casper College Foundation Board. As a literacy advocate, he has gifted more than 180,000 hard back books to young readers in Wyoming. His leadership in banking has allowed economic and personal growth for many Wyoming businesses and families." according to a press release.

The featured guest speaker this year is military aviation pioneer Carey Lohrenz, who is the first woman fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy. Other announcements will include the recipient of the Mick & Susie McMurry Cowboy Code Try Award, the 2018-19 Central Wyoming Youth of the Year and the winner of the Ruth R. Ellbogen Education Award.

More from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming:

"The Breakfast is the culmination of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming’s Annual Giving Campaign; One Child, One Club, One Community. The One Campaign brings the strategic goals of the Club together into three categories to address the crucial areas of need to build a sustainable future for the Club. Contributions in this campaign will help the Club reach a $855,000.00 annual fundraising goal to support its $3.8 million budget and serve thousands of youth."
