UNDATED (AP) — Mariano Rivera appeared very happy after throwing the ceremonial first pitch in his final game at Citi Field. He didn't look as happy after throwing the final pitch.

Rivera allowed two runs and three hits without retiring a batter in the bottom of the ninth as the New York Mets rallied to beat the Yankees 2-1. David Wright singled home the tying run and took second on a bad throw to the plate by center fielder Brett Gardner before Lucas Duda (DOO'-duh) laced the game-winning single. The rally allowed the Mets to complete a two-game sweep and earn their third straight win.

Rivera's first blown save of the year came after he was honored by the Mets in a pregame ceremony.

Mets starter Matt Harvey had to settle for a no-decision after holding the Yankees to a run and six hits while striking out 10 in eight innings.

The Yankees wasted a fine effort by Hiroki Kuroda (hih-ROH'-kee kuh-ROH'-dah), who scattered four hits and struck out seven in seven scoreless frames.

Also in the majors, former Boston reliever Justin Papelbon (PAP'-ul-bahn) closed out a fine performance by Cliff Lee as the Phillies beat the Red Sox 3-1. Lee allowed a first-inning run and then retired 22 of the next 23 batters to win his fourth consecutive decision. Papelbon picked up the save in his first appearance back in Boston.

Carlos Beltran smacked a two-run homer before Matt Carpenter and Matt Holliday hit solo shots in the Cardinals' 4-1 win over the Royals in Kansas City. Rookie Tyler Lyons was sharp for the second time in as many outings since his recall, allowing a run and just two hits in seven innings.

Cincinnati picked up its 14th victory in 17 games as Xavier Paul hit a two-run single in the first inning to jumpstart the Reds' 8-2 win against Cleveland. Paul had three of the Reds' 18 hits to back Mat Latos (LAY'-tohs), who gave up a run and five hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Pittsburgh beat Detroit 1-0 on Neal Walker's home run in the top of the 11th. Former Tiger Jason Grilli pitched the bottom half for his 21st save in as many tries, striking out Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder in succession.

Brian McCann's second homer of the day was a tiebreaking, solo shot in the 10th inning of Atlanta's 7-6 win at Toronto. McCann and rookie Evan Gattis hit back-to-back homers off Ramon Ortiz in the sixth to give the Braves a 6-5 lead after Jordan Schafer went deep for Atlanta.

Adam LaRoche hit a three-run homer and a solo shot as Washington crushed Baltimore 9-3. Tyler Moore and Roger Bernadina also homered as the Nationals overcame Chris Davis' major league-leading 17th round-tripper.

Derek Norris hit a two-run homer and Adam Rosales added a solo shot as Oakland beat San Francisco 6-3 to complete a sweep of the two-game series. Jarrod Parker entered the game 2-6 with a 5.76 ERA before holding the Giants to two runs and five hits in seven innings.

Hyun-Jin Ryu tossed his first major league complete game and Luis Cruz smacked his first big league homer as the Dodgers downed the Angels 3-0. Cruz hit a two-run blast in the fifth to back Ryu's two-hitter.

Edinson Volquez allowed a run and four hits over 7 2/3 innings to pitch San Diego past Seattle 6-1. Jedd Gyorko (JUR'-koh) hit a two-run homer and Alexi Amarista added a solo shot as the Padres won for only the second time in seven games.

Michael Cuddyer's third hit of the day was an RBI single in the ninth inning that gave the Colorado Rockies a 2-1 win over the Houston Astros. Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa scattered five hits with one run over seven innings, but was not involved in the decision after winning his previous four starts.

Tampa Bay stormed back from a 4-0 deficit and beat Miami 7-6 on Desmond Jennings' RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. Jennings and Luke Scott each had three hits and two runs scored as the Rays handed the Marlins their seventh consecutive loss.

Aaron Hicks doubled and scored on Eduardo Escobar's sacrifice fly in the top of the 14th inning as Minnesota beat Milwaukee 6-5. Hicks, Josh Willingham and Ryan Doumit (DOH'-miht) homered to give the Twins a 4-0 lead by the fourth inning.

And the Cubs were leading the White Sox 2-0 in the bottom of the third when the game was postponed by rain. No makeup date has been announced.

UNDATED (AP) — Indians All-Star closer Chris Perez will not throw for a week after an MRI revealed tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Perez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday and underwent tests in Cleveland, which showed "mild" tendinitis of his rotator cuff. The Indians said their plan is for Perez not to pick up a baseball for at least five days in the hopes that rest will reduce the soreness in his shoulder.

In other major league news, the San Diego Padres have reinstated catcher Yasmani Grandal from the restricted list after he completed a 50-game suspension for a positive testosterone test. The Padres optioned catcher John Baker to Triple-A Tucson and designated for assignment infielder Edinson Rincon to make roster room for Grandal.

Yankees reliever Joba (JAH'-bah) Chamberlain has been activated from the disabled list after missing a month with a strained muscle on his right side. Meanwhile, first baseman Mark Teixeira (the-SHEHR'-uh) and third baseman Kevin Youkilis (YOO'-kih-lihs) both got five at-bats Tuesday during an extended spring training game in Florida. They have headed out to begin their rehab assignments Wednesday with Double-A Trenton.
