UNDATED (AP) — It appears the New York Mets have another young arm to go with 24-year-old staff ace Matt Harvey.

Zack Wheeler was a winner in his major league debut as the New York Mets swept a doubleheader from the Braves for the first time in seven years. Wheeler walked five but allowed no runs and just four hits while striking out seven in six innings of the Mets' 6-1 victory in the nightcap. Anthony Recker hit a two-run homer and Omar Quintanilla (kihn-tah-NEE'-uh) added a two-run single to back their new teammate.

Wheeler's victory came after Harvey carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out a career-high 13 a 4-3 triumph against the Braves. The no-hit bid ended when Jason Heyward poked an infield single leading off the seventh.

Harvey left with a 4-0 lead after loading the bases with nobody out in the eighth, and all three runs scored against the New York bullpen before Bobby Parnell came in to record the last four outs.

Also in the majors, Mat Latos (LAY'-tohs) had gone 21 consecutive regular-season starts without a loss before Pedro Alvarez singled home a pair of runs in the first inning of Pittsburgh's 4-0 shutout of Cincinnati. Charlie Morton was the starter in the Pirates' NL-leading 12th shutout, yielding three singles over 5 1/3 innings to win his second start since returning from elbow surgery.

Cliff Lee is 9-2 after striking out nine over eight innings of Philadelphia's 4-2 victory against Washington. Michael Young tied a career high with three doubles as the Phillies beat the Nationals for the second straight night.

Ryan Sweeney and Cody Random hit back-to-back homers while the Chicago Cubs put together a four-run first to beat the Cardinals 4-2 in St. Louis. Jeff Samardzija (sah-MAHR'-juh) came within two outs of a complete game while outpitching Adam Wainwright, who was trying to become the majors' first 11-game winner of the season.

Paul Goldschmidt led off the bottom of the ninth with a homer to give Arizona a 3-2 triumph over Miami, ending the Diamondbacks' four-game skid. Martin Prado also homered for the Diamondbacks.

San Diego's seven-game winning streak is over after the Giants scored twice in the eighth to beat the Padres 5-4. Brandon Belt tied the game with an RBI double before scoring on a go-ahead single by Juan Perez.

David Ortiz had three RBIs and Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-5 with three runs scored as the Red Sox beat Tampa Bay 5-1 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Alfredo Aceves (ah-SEH'-vehs) worked five innings and limited the Rays to a run and three hits before being lifted following a three-hour rain delay.

The Red Sox completed a sweep with a 3-1 win over the Rays as Jonny Gomes (gohmz) hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth. Felix Doubront (doo-BRAHNT') was in line for the victory after allowing three hits in eight shutout innings before Andrew Bailey gave up Kelly Johnson's game-tying homer in the ninth.

Toronto has a seven-game winning streak after Edwin Encarnacion (ehn-kahr-nah-see-OHN') hit a two-run homer and Esmil Rogers pitched into the seventh to lead the Blue Jays past Colorado 8-3. J.P. Arencibia (ar-ehn-SEE'-bee-uh) and Maicer Izturis (MY'-sur ihz-TOOR'-his) hit back-to-back homers to support Rogers, who carried a no-hitter into the sixth and allowed just two earned runs and four hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Kansas City lost for only the third time in 14 games by allowing three runs in the eighth inning of a 4-3 setback in Cleveland. Michael Bourne and Jason Kipnis provided RBI hits to tie the game before Michael Brantley lifted a sacrifice fly.

Adam Jones belted a three-run homer and J.J. Hardy poked a two-run blast as Baltimore beat Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers 5-2. Zach Britton allowed a run and five hits in 5 1/3 innings after being called up earlier in the day.

Oakland leads the AL West by three games over Texas after Brandon Moss and John Jaso homered off Yu Darvish in the Athletics' 6-2 victory over the Rangers. Jarrod Parker held Texas to a pair of runs and three hits in seven innings to win his fourth straight decision.

Kendrys (KEHN'-drihs) Morales singled home the tiebreaking run in the 10th inning as Seattle outlasted the Los Angeles Angels 3-2. The Halos rallied to force extra innings after Raul Ibanez (ih-BAHN'-yehz) and Justin Smoak hit back-to-back homers to put the Mariners ahead 2-0 in the second inning.

Minnesota beat the Chicago White Sox 7-5 on Ryan Doumit's (DOH'-mits) two-run double in the eighth. Doumit had three hits as the Twins handed the White Sox their 13th loss in 15 games.

Houston clobbered Milwaukee 10-1 as Matt Dominguez hit a grand slam and drove in five runs. Carlos Pena had a three-run homer, and Jordan Lyles gave up just one run and seven hits in seven innings to improve to 4-1.

The New York Yankees will have to wait a little longer to host the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first time since the 1981 World Series. Their game was postponed by rain and will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday.

NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira (teh-SHEHR'-uh) is back on the 15-day disabled list with an aching right wrist. He missed the first 53 games of the season because of an injury to the wrist. The switch-hitter got off to an encouraging start when he returned but has slumped to a .151 average with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 53 at-bats.

Yanks third baseman Kevin Youkilis (YOO'-kih-lihs) will miss at least 10-12 weeks after he has the back surgery in California on Thursday. He had gone back on the DL last Friday.

Also in the majors, the Boston Red Sox have put pitcher Clay Buchholz on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained neck. The right-hander made an early exit from his latest start against the Angels on June 8. Buchholz is 9-0 and leads the majors with a 1.71 ERA.

The Braves have placed catcher Evan Gattis on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. Infielder Tyler Pastornicky was recalled from Triple-A to fill the roster spot. Gattis earned a backup job in spring training as a non-roster player and is second on the Braves in homers with 14 and RBIs with 37.

The Mets have traded right-hander Collin McHugh to the Colorado Rockies for outfielder Eric Young Jr. Young hit .242 with one home run, six RBIs and eight stolen bases in 57 games this season before he was designated for assignment last week.

The Indians have recalled third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall from Triple-A Columbus. He began the season as Cleveland's starting third baseman but he struggled and was optioned to the minor leagues on May 13.

And Rangers utilityman Jeff Baker has landed on the DL with a sprained thumb, the result of an over-exuberant high-five with a teammate last Thursday.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — More than four years ago Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig (SEE'-lig) appointed a committee to study the potential move of the Athletics to San Jose. In the view of city officials, that's too long and San Jose has filed a lawsuit against Major League Baseball for dragging its feet on having team owners vote on a possible move of the A's 40 miles south.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in San Jose, disputes MLB's exemption to federal antitrust law. The suit claims baseball has used antitrust a as a "guise" to control the location of teams. The San Francisco Giants have objected to the A's potential move on grounds they relied on territorial rights to the San Jose-area market when they built their ballpark, AT&T Park.
