UNDATED (AP) — Jordan Zimmermann has become the majors' fourth nine-game winner of the year.

Zimmermann lowered his ERA to 2.00 by allowing just two hits while striking out eight over seven innings of Washington's 7-0 shutout of Minnesota in Game 1 of a day-night doubleheader. The Nationals finally provided Zimmermann with some offense after scoring no more than three runs for him in seven straight games. Anthony Rendon (rehn-DOHN') had two hits and drove in three runs, while Ian Desmond went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Washington rallied to win the nightcap 5-4 and complete a sweep of the twinbill. Former Twin Denard Span tripled home the tying run in the sixth, one inning before Ian Desmond laced an RBI double that puts the Nats at .500.

Matt Moore and Dustin Masterson were unsuccessful in their attempts to earn their ninth win of the year.

Moore was torched in Tampa Bay's 10-7 loss to Baltimore, surrendering career highs of nine runs and 12 hits in five innings. He's allowed 15 runs and 19 hits in seven innings over his last two appearances since opening the year 8-0.

J.J. Hardy, Adam Jones, Alexi Casilla (kah-SEE'-uh) and Nick Markakis (mahr-KAY'-kihs) each had two RBIs as the Orioles salvaged the finale of the three-game series.

Masterson was pitching well until Don Kelly belted a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the sixth inning of Detroit's 4-1 win over Cleveland. Masterson was outdueled by Jose Alvarez, who gave up one run in six innings in his major league debut. Alvarez no-hit the Indians until Ryan Raburn's fifth-inning homer.

Also in the majors, homers by Adrian Beltre (BEHL'-tray), Nelson Cruz and David Murphy helped the Texas Rangers turn a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 victory over Toronto. Beltre's blast broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh.

Alex Rios and Tyler Flowers homered to power the Chicago White Sox to a 4-2 victory and a four-game split of the Athletics in Oakland. Winning pitcher Hector Santiago looked good over 6 1/3 innings, giving up one earned run and four hits.

David Ortiz has five homers and 14 RBIs in his last 10 games after launching a three-run shot in Boston's 10-5 rout of the Los Angeles Angels. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (sahl-tah-lah-MAH'-kee-ah) connected twice, the first coming one pitch before Mike Carp went deep in the sixth inning.

The New York Yankees beat the Mariners 2-1 in Seattle on Chris Stewart's RBI single in the ninth inning. Brett Gardner furnished four of the Yankees' seven hits and drove in the game's first run.

Atlanta was an 8-1 winner against the Dodgers in Los Angeles as Dan Uggla (UG'-lah) supplied two homers and four RBIs. Freddie Freeman doubled home three runs and Mike Minor worked six innings as the Braves earned a split of the four-game set.

Matt Holiday's grand slam capped a seven-run 10th inning that gave St. Louis an 11-4 win at Cincinnati. Matt Carpenter had three RBIs and Carlos Beltran hit a solo shot.

Cody Ransom ripped a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Chicago Cubs past Pittsburgh 4-1. Edwin Jackson struck out eight in a season-high seven innings as the Cubs won despite failing to get a hit until the bottom of the sixth.

Chad Gaudin (goh-DAN') had his second good start in place of the injured Ryan Vogelsong, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings as San Francisco topped Arizona 6-2. Homers by Marco Scutaro (SKOO'-tah-roh) and Brandon Belt helped the Giants take the rubber game of the series.

Dexter Fowler capped his four-hit game by poking an RBI single with two out in the 10th inning of Colorado's 8-7 comeback win against San Diego. The Padres were on one out from a 7-5 victory until Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run double in the ninth.

Miguel Olivo (oh-LEE'-voh) belted a two-run homer while Miami was scoring four times in the 10th to beat the New York Mets 8-4. The Marlins outhit the Mets 17-6 and improved to 8-3 against their division rivals despite trailing 4-1 after three innings of this game.

Carlos Gomez socked a two-run homer and Milwaukee earned its third straight win by ripping Philadelphia 9-1. Kyle Lohse (lohsh) limited the Phillies to a run and four hits in eight innings for his first victory in eight starts.

Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer hit RBI singles in the eighth inning to send Kansas City to its fifth straight win, 2-0 against Houston. Aaron Crow picked up the victory after Luis Mendoza gave up just four hits in seven innings.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have placed catcher Erik Kratz on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee injury. He was hurt while running to first in the ninth inning in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Brewers. Kratz was hitting .229 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs in 43 games.

TORONTO (AP) — The Rangers put left-hander Michael Kirkman on the 15-day disabled list after a recurrence of lymphoma around his right triceps. The team says a complete recovery is expected. The Rangers also put right-hander Alexi Ogando on the 15-day DL with a sore shoulder, recalled right-hander Josh Lindblom from Triple-A Round Rock and purchased the contract of right-hander Kyle McLellan.

DETROIT (AP) — Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco has had his suspension for throwing at a hitter reduced from eight to seven games. The club reported the reduction a day after Carrasco pitched against the Tigers in Detroit on Saturday. He was initially suspended for eight games in April for "intentionally throwing" at New York's Kevin Youkilis but was able to keep pitching because an appeal was pending.
