The search for a Natrona County boy who disappeared midday Sunday continued into the night and Monday morning.

Natrona County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Sean Ellis said Joseph Peterson, 16, walked away from his home near Goose Creek and Hat Six roads in southeastern Natrona County. Peterson was not dressed for the weather and is believed to be wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and pajama pants.

Ellis said Peterson is autistic and functions at a higher level, but is not self-sufficient and does not problem solve at an age-appropriate level.

He is 5'9 and weighs 120 lbs.

Beginning at noon Sunday, a task force consisting of 10 city, county, state and federal agencies has been taking part in the search. The Natrona County Sheriff's Office is not requesting public volunteers with the search at this time.

Ellis said the public can help by bringing easy to pack, high-calorie food items to Natrona County Fire Protection District Station 13 located at 6650 Wildcat.

Searchers are using dogs, helicopters, planes, certified human trackers and search and rescue technicians.

All non-involved parties are asked to avoid the area.

Anyone with information should contact dispatchers at 307-235-9300.
