Tucker Leads Cowgirls to Road Win Over Falcons, 67-45

Freshman Rachelle Tucker had career-highs of 16 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Wyoming Cowgirls past Air Force, 67-45, Wednesday in Colorado Springs.

Tucker scored eight points in a key 12-1 run by the Cowgirls in the third quarter. It took a 30-26 advantage for Wyoming to 42-27. The Falcons trimmed it to ten points, at 42-32, but it’s as close as they got. UW overcame a sluggish start and only a seven point halftime lead.

Head coach Joe Legerski said in a release from the university about Tucker,

“The biggest change in the second quarter was the play of Rachelle. We were able to find her; she’s able to finish around the basket; and had a big night with 16 points… It was just a nice effort from Rachelle.”

Wyoming (9-4, 2-1) won their second straight conference game. Marquelle Dent led UW with 19 points and five assists. Liv Roberts added 12 points and a career best 11 rebounds. Natalie Baker chipped in 14 points.

The Cowgirls shot 48 percent from the floor and held a 39-31 advantage in rebounds.

Air Force (0-13, 0-2) was led by Sarah Fotsch with eight points. The Falcons shot only 31 percent.

Wyoming continues their road trip with a game in Las Vegas Saturday against UNLV. Tip-off is at 8 p.m., Mountain Time.
