University of Wyoming Athletics will benefit for years to come from the generosity of numerous individuals, corporations and other groups who donated this past year to support a variety of capital projects, endowments and scholarship funds.  That generosity from Cowboy and Cowgirl supporters resulted in a total of $12.8 million in pledges and gifts to UW Athletics for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

With the current monies included, Wyoming has raised over $50 million for facilities and other projects in recent years, including construction of the Wildcatter Stadium Club & Suites, an $11 million Indoor Practice Facility, a $3 million Indoor Tennis Facility, a $1.2 million golf practice facility, improvements to women’s soccer and wrestling locker rooms and practice facilities and the first phase of the Arena-Auditorium renovation project.

“We can’t thank our fans, donors and alumni enough for their continued support of our student-athletes and coaches as we strive to provide them with the resources they need to be successful,” said Tom Burman, UW Director of Athletics.  “We are excited about the direction our program is going with an outstanding group of coaches in place, and a number facilities currently going through major renovations led by the renovation of the Arena-Auditorium, improved facilities for our wrestling and women’s soccer programs and a new practice facility for our men’s and women’s golf teams.

“Our staff has worked hard in conjunction with the UW Foundation to find new sources of donations and to continue to strengthen relationships we have with existing donors.  We are extremely grateful for their support of our program, and I know the student-athletes and coaches are very appreciative, as well.”

“The amount of support we have received from our donors this past year has been absolutely incredible,” said Ben Blalock, President and CEO of the University of Wyoming Foundation.  “It is gratifying to see that our contributors believe in the direction of our athletic program led by our Director of Athletics, Tom Burman, and are willing to make that type of investment.

“The matching funds committed by the State of Wyoming for the Arena Auditorium renovation have certainly been an incentive for several of these private gifts.”

The first phase of the Arena-Auditorium renovation will be completed in the fall of 2014.
