What’s In A Wyoming Name? – Dubois
Except for working as a cowboy on one cattle drive, Fred Dubois never spent much time in Wyoming. Born in Illinois to French-Canadian parents, he settled in Idaho and was elected US senator, serving on the postal committee. When a town in northwest Wyoming applied for the name “Never Sweat” in 1886, post office officials rejected it and named it for the senator instead. He gave his public service to the state next door – and a name to Dubois, Wyoming.
