CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming High School Activities Association board of directors has approved new cutlines for the number of schools in Class 2A and 1A football.

The change made unanimously Tuesday in Casper will take effect in 2014. The cutlines for Class 4A, 3A and 2A will not be altered.

Under the new cutlines, the 10 largest schools will be 4A, the next 12 3A, the next 14 2A, the next 14 1A-11 man and the rest 1A-6 man.

The Associated Press reports that schools will still retain the option to petition to opt up or down a classification.

Before now there had been no official break between 1A-11 man and 6 man so schools could choose one or the other.
