Motorists should be careful driving north on Interstate 25 west of Douglas because a bridge was closed for safety reasons on Friday, a Wyoming Department of Transportation spokesman said.

"There were some issues discovered while inspecting the concrete bridge columns, so we decided to close the bridge until we can determine what the issues are and for a plan of attack to remedy it," Jeff Goetz said.

WYDOT is directing traffic at the La Prele interchange at mile marker 146 to the off ramp and then to the on ramp, Goetz said.

This summer, construction crews will close the southbound bridge for reconstruction and have both northbound and southbound traffic move on the northbound bridge, Goetz said.

Again, please pay attention when traveling through this area.
