A rock slide Thursday morning blocked the westbound lane of  U.S. 14/16/20 west of Cody and damaged a guardrail, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

WYDOT says they're sending a crew of maintenance workers to clear the slide, located just east of the tunnels west of Cody.

"We are currently mobilizing equipment to clean up the area," said WYDOT maintenance engineer Lyle Lamb of Basin. "There will be delays through the area while the cleanup effort is under way. We expect both lanes of the roadway will be reopened to traffic later today." (Thursday)

WYDOT officials said the rock slide has no connection to rockfall mitigation work that was completed this past fall west of the tunnels.
