Looking at the new coaches/media rankings, you can tell where all the interesting stuff happened last week.

4A is the class we were referring to and it will be interesting this week as well. Sheridan is up to #1, as a result of Cheyenne East taking a tumble thanks to all the suspensions handed down. Those players who did not play in last week's loss vs. unranked Thunder Basin, won't get to play Friday, in the #1 vs. #2 clash, between the Broncs and Thunderbirds, however they will be back on Saturday, for a #2 vs. #3 battle vs. Campbell County. In the west, Evanston stays at #4, as Green River drops to #5, because the Red Devils' win last week, vs. the Wolves.

There is no change in the new 3A rankings. It's clear which are the top 2 teams, but not all the voters agree. #1 Buffalo just took care of business in their make-up game at #4 Rawlins, and the Bison are the target this weekend, when they visit #5 Newcastle, in their second meeting this season. #2 Riverton will hit the road to unranked Lyman and Mountain View this weekend. The Wolverines have a bit of a score to settle with the Eagles, if you remember last year's regional championship game (Lyman won at Riverton, which ended up being the Wolverines' only loss of the season). The thing is, Lyman is not the same team that they were last year. Elsewhere, #3 Cody will entertain arch-rival Powell on Friday.

There's no change in the 2A rankings this week, but Friday night will be a big night, as 4 of the top 5 play each other. It's #1 Wind River at #3 Wyoming Indian (last year's state championship game), as well as #4 Lovell at #5 Rocky Mountain. That just leaves Pine Bluffs at #2, as they will play their games and watch the scoreboard, to see what is going on in the west.

1A has their share of big games as well this week...both on Saturday. #1 Burlington visits #3 St. Stephens, while #4 Encampment hosts unranked Saratoga. The Panthers beat the Tigers in OT a few weeks ago, but that got neutralized by losing to Cokeville, whereas Encampment beat the Panthers from Lincoln County. Little Snake River has dropped out of the top 5, which opened the door for Cokeville to enter. The unranked Rattlers have a tall task on their hands with back-to-back road games vs. #5 and #2 Farson-Eden.
