It's rivalry week in most parts of the state, and the latest coaches/media rankings could add some more fuel to the fire.

There's no change in the latest 4A rankings. Sheridan, Natrona and Cheyenne East are still the unanimous #1, #2 and #3. It's Oil Bowl week in Casper, as #4 Kelly Walsh goes across town to play NC. The Trojans won this game last year, but the Mustangs got a measure of payback in the playoffs. Rock Springs is still #5, heading into their regular season home finale vs. Thunder Basin. The Tigers have a tough test after this week, with East and Natrona back-to-back on the road.

The 3A rankings got mixed up some as a result of one rivalry. Star Valley is still the unanimous #1, but now there's a new #2, and it's up for grabs this week. The undefeated Douglas Bearcats host #3 Torrington. The Trail Blazers won in their last visit to Douglas, and they are battle tested on the road. Green River drops to #4 and has 2 weeks to recover before the big one at home vs. SV. Rawlins retains the #5 ranking, despite losing their first game of the season last week. The Outlaws will try to do what they haven't done since 1985, and that is, win at Riverton.

There's a new team in the new 2A rankings. Aside from that, the rest are unchanged. It's still Glenrock, Mountain View, Big Piney and Greybull in that order, although the Buffalos are closing the gap with the Herders for the #1 ranking. Lyman is the new #5 and they will be on the road for the Bridger Valley battle against #2 MV.

No change in the 1A rankings, and there is another big game in the east. Cokeville holds the top spot, with Pine Bluffs at #2, followed by Upton-Sundance, Big Horn and Southeast. All eyes will be on Sundance this week, as the Patriots host the Rams.

The 6-man rankings are still same, just like the past few weeks. Kaycee is still on top, with Farson-Eden, Little Snake River, Burlington and Midwest holding spots 2-5. There's not much on the schedule this week as far as ranked team vs. ranked team is concerned, but that should change in the following 2 weeks.

Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
