Wyoming Man Who Escaped Custody in 2013 Recaptured in New Mexico
A man who escaped custody in 2013 near Independence Rock has been recaptured by authorities in New Mexico.
Kenneth Ward left Sweetwater County in 2013 and was wanted on a warrant for wrongful taking or disposing of property. His bond had been set at $1 million, according to Sgt. Aaron Shatto of Natrona County Sheriff's Office.
Ward was arrested on that warrant Aug. 23, 2013, and was being transported by Inmate Services Corporation from Arizona to Sweetwater County on Aug. 31, 2013.
The transport van stopped at a rest area near Independence Rock off of Highway 220 in order for people to use the restroom. That's when Ward escaped.
Ward was arrested Tuesday in Roswell, New Mexico.
