The San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens picked up  wins in the first games of Monday Night Football for the regular season. The Chargers beat AFC West rival Oakland 22-14, and Baltimore blasted Cincinnati in an AFC match up 44-13.

Charger quarterback Philip Rivers was 24 of 33 for 241 yards and a touchdown, that going to former University of Wyoming player Malcolm Floyd. In the Baltimore win, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco threw for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Denver Broncos coming off that 31-19 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday night are in Atlanta next Monday night.

The Wyoming Cowboys after losing to Toledo on Saturday host Cal Poly this Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. Starting quarterback Brett Smith who suffered a concussion in the 34-31 loss Saturday is still listed as doubtful for this week's game. The Pokes need to tighten the screws on defense. Texas put up 37 points and Toledo 34 in the first two games of the season. The Rockets had over 500 yards of offense with quarterback Terrance Owens throwing for 300 yards.

The Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants in Denver last night 6-5 as pitcher Alex White homered in the game. The Rockies broke a 5 game losing streak and the loss for the Giants was just their 2nd in the last 10 games.

In tennis, Olympic Gold Medalist Andy Murray won the men's final at the U.S. Open in New York, knocking off Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, and 6-2. That's Murray's first Grand Slam title and the first time a British man has won a major championship since 1936. It was a grueling test for both men as the first tie breaker went to 22 points.
