The National Finals Rodeo kicks off tonight in Las Vegas with the first of 10 rounds. Wyoming is well represented with 5 residents of the state competing and another 5 who competed in Wyoming at the college level. The PRCA Awards were handed out last night. Meeteetse native Dusty Tuckness was named the bullfighter of the year for the 3rd year in a row. Cheyenne Frontier Days was named the large outdoor rodeo of the year. The NFR begins tonight at 8:00pm from the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Junior college basketball as the Casper College men and women split their games at Western Wyoming in Rock Springs on Wednesday night. The T-Bird men defeated Western 76-66. The Birds trailed at one time in the second half by 9 points, but rallied for the win. Casper ups their record to 10-3 on the season and WWCC drops to 1-7. In the women's game, the Lady T-Birds lost to WWCC 61-57, thanks to to some poor second half shooting. The T-Birds drop to 9-3 and Western goes to 11-1. Both T-Bird teams are in action Saturday when they host Central Wyoming of Riverton at Erickson Gym.

In high school basketbll, the Kelly Walsh teams will be in the Early Bird Classic in Gillette starting today and running through Saturday. Both the KW boys and girls will open up play with games against Rock Springs.

The Denver Broncos will open this week's NFL schedule when they play at Oakland. The Broncos (9-3) clinched the AFC West Division title last Sunday with a win over Tampa Bay and also won their 7th straight game. The Raiders are going the other way with a record of 3-9 and loser's of their last 5 games. Kickoff is at 6:20pm tonight on AM 1030 KTWO.
