Wyoming Cowboy quarterback Brett Smith was named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Smith went 19 of 32 for 235 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for a 5th as the Pokes clubbed Colorado State on Saturday 45-31. With the win, the Cowboys won their 4th straight Bronze Boot. Cowboy defensive back Blair Burns was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week as he returned a 99 yard interception for a touchdown in that CSU game, which was one yard shy of the school record set by Casper native Jacque Finn back in 2002 against BYU. The Cowboys will be at New Mexico on Saturday.

In women's college basketball, the Wyoming Cowgirls beat Regis in an exhibition game Monday night 76-45. Ashley Sickles had 17 points to lead the Cowgirls. UW will open the season Friday night taking on Idaho.

Wyoming's high school football state championship games are this Friday and Saturday at the University of Wyoming War Memorial Stadium.
