Police say a pair of second-grade students are responsible for placing a prank 911 call and falsely reporting an active shooter at Grant Elementary School on Tuesday.

In a brief update on its Facebook page Wednesday, the Casper Police Department said no charges will be filed against the unnamed students because of their ages.

The Natrona County School District will handle any consequences for the students involved.

Police say a 911 call was placed from a cell phone shortly before noon Tuesday. Using GPS coordinates, police determined the phone was located at Journey Elementary School at the time the call was made.

Officers determined no threat had existed toward students or district staff at any time, as the call was a prank.

However, both Casper police officers and Natrona County Sheriff's deputies responded to both schools as a result of the prank call.
