UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks are off to the best start in team history, but their lead in the NHL's Western Conference is just two points over Anaheim.

The Ducks picked up their fifth straight win and improved to 12-2-1 with a 3-2 win against Phoenix. Anaheim trailed 1-0 until Peter Holland and Ryan Getzlaf scored 21 seconds apart in the first period. Getzlaf also assisted on Corey Perry's third-period goal, which proved to be the game-winner.

Jonas Hiller made 25 saves as the Ducks won for the ninth time in their last 10 games.

The New Jersey Devils had a chance to move back into sole possession of first place in the NHL's Eastern Conference. Instead, they are tied with Pittsburgh at 22 points apiece following a 2-1 shootout loss to Ottawa.

Jakob Silfverburg scored the lone shootout goal after assisting on Daniel Alfredsson's game-tying tally in the third period. Ben Bishop made 30 saves and was perfect after Stephen Gionta (jee-AHN'-tah) scored 79 seconds into the game.

In other NHL play;

— Claude Giroux (zhih-ROO') and Danny Briere (bree-EHR') netted two goals each and the Philadelphia Flyers stomped the New York Islanders 7-zip. Ilya Bryzgalov (IHL'-yuh brihs-GAH'-lahf) was solid in making 19 saves for his first shutout of the season and 30th in the NHL.

— Paul Stastny (STAS'-nee) and Jamie McGinn scored 13 seconds apart to cap Colorado's four-goal second period in a 6-5 win over the visiting Nashville Predators. Matt Duchene had a goal and two assists in helping the Avalanche beat the Predators for the first time in 10 tries.

— Peter Budaj (BOO'-dy) stopped 19 shots and Montreal did its scoring in the third period of a 3-0 shutout of Carolina. Brandon Prust snapped the scoreless tie 2:06 into the final stanza before Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty scored 18 seconds apart.

— Toronto also posted a 3-0 win over Florida as Ben Scrivens made 37 saves for his second consecutive shutout. Phil Kessel scored the game-winner in the first period, and Clarke MacArthur and Nazem Kadri added a goal and an assist as the Maple Leafs won for the sixth time in seven games.

— Mike Smith stopped 29 shots and Keith Yandle scored the game-winner just 41 seconds into the Phoenix Coyotes' 4-0 win over Calgary. Mikkel Boedker, Antoine Vermette and Raffi Torres added third-period goals to back Smith, who picked up his third shutout of the season and 22nd of his career.
