UPDATE (3:50 p.m.):

Jeremy Breeden has been captured, according to Thermopolis police.

===========================

Thermopolis authorities continue to search for a Kansas man wanted for attempted first-degree murder.

Jeremy Breeden remains at large as of 1 p.m. Friday, according to the Thermopolis 911 Communications Center. Breeden is considered armed and dangerous -- anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately. Do not approach him.

Police say a credible sighting of Breeden was reported Friday morning near the western edge of Thermopolis. The man believed to have been Breeden was wearing a tan t-shirt, blue jeans and brown socks with no shoes. The socks and bottoms of his pants were wet.

The person who encountered Breeden threatened to contact police, and Breeden reportedly took off toward the Old Cody Loop road. Firefighters of the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department assisted in searching the area, asking residents to lock their homes, vehicles and outbuildings.

Police say many areas of Thermopolis have been searched without success, though leads are being followed and several other homes and businesses have been searched.

Thermopolis residents are advised to lock their vehicles and buildings.

Thermopolis schools on Friday encouraged parents of children who normally walk home from school to pick those children up Friday afternoon.

Parents were also advised to meet their children at the bus stop, or have a trusted adult in the home when students arrive to ensure the home is safe.

"Law enforcement believes the fugitive has been breaking into homes to hide," said Breez Daniels of Thermopolis Middle School in a Facebook post. "We want all students to be safe when they leave school today."
