Wyoming Cowgirls Kayla Woodward was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week. Woodward from Sheridan threw in 22 points in the Cowgirls win over Colorado State on Saturday. Woodward also scored 20 points in the road win over New Mexico last Wednesday. The Cowgirls finished the first half of the MWC at 6-2 and will host Boise State on Saturday. The Wyoming Cowboys finished the first half of the conference season at 2-6 and will have a non-conference game tomorrow night at Cal-Bakerfield then back to the conference schedule on Saturday at Boise State.

The Colorado Avalanche lost to Dallas 3-2 in Denver on Monday night. That was the Av's first home loss of the season. Milan Hejduk played his 1000th career NHL game and scored a goal for Colorado, as he did in his firs NHL career game. The Avalanche fall to 4-5 on the season.

The official start of baseball with spring training is just a week from today. So, the Colorado Rockies will have a lot of work with their new Manager Walt Weiss. The Rockies also are implementing a slightly unusual set up with their minor league teams. They'll have a manager and each team will have a full time development supervisor who will travel with the team. For instance, the Grand Junction Rockies, formerly the Casper Ghosts will have Tony Diaz as their development supervisor and who was the former manager, and Anthony Sanders as their field manager. Former major player in the majors and Casper native Mike Devereux will return as the hitting coach of the Ashville Tourists, the Rockies Class A affiliate.
