
Man Caught Speeding Near Cheyenne Arrested on Drug Charges
An Auburn, Washington man is facing felony drug charges after a Wyoming trooper found marijuana, THC oil and hash in his minivan.
According to an affidavit, 33-year-old Yan J. Chen was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne on Feb. 25.
Chen, who had a medical marijuana license out of Washington, reportedly told the trooper that he had smoked marijuana within the last 24 hours.
A search of Chen's van revealed over three ounces, but less than a pound of marijuana, 1.25 grams of THC oil, 9 grams of hash and multiple paraphernalia items with residue.
Chen was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana and THC-oil, misdemeanor possession of THC-hash and speeding. He could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.
Chen is currently jailed on a $5,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 7 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
