Royals Take Game Two of World Series
The Kansas City Royals have moved within two games of capturing their first World Series Championship since 1985.
The Royals took game two in their best of seven series with the New York Mets. Kansas City defeated New York 7-1 on Wednesday night, behind a terrific pitching effort from Johnny Cueto.
Royals pitcher Johnny Cueto went the distance, allowing just two hits in nine innings, while walking three and striking out four. He became the first American League pitcher since 1991 to throw a complete game in the World Series.
The Royals now head to New York, where they will face off against the Mets in Game 3 of the series Friday night.
Both teams are vying for their first championship in three decades. The last and only time the Royals claimed the title was in 1985. The Mets won their second championship the following year. Their first World Series title was in 1969.
