Upper North Platte, Laramie Flooding Potential Moderate To High

After looking at all of the current snow-pack numbers across the state, State Hydrologist Jim Fahey has put together the Wyoming Spring 2016 Snow-melt Flood Potential Outlook for early May.

Mountain snow-pack and associated snow water equivalents across central to southern Wyoming were above average by early May leaving residents with a Moderate to High potential for flooding associated with snow-melt across lower portions of the Laramie, Upper North Platte, and Little Wind Basin.

In looking at the map one can also see a few areas of concern in the North Laramie range that could affect drainage in Eastern Natrona County and Western Converse County as well.

With a wet May forecast predicted across Wyoming for the next couple of weeks, localized flooding is always a possibility.
