For the first time this season, outside hitter Bridget Shanahan has been selected as the Mountain West Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played from Sept. 1-7. It’s the second time in her career she has taken home the award. She last earned the honor on Nov. 25, 2013.

 

Shanahan, a 6-2 junior from Hartland, N.Y. led the Cowgirls to the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic title over the weekend and a 3-0 victory over Utah Valley in Evanston earlier in the week. She has helped the Cowgirls remain undefeated this season with a 7-0 mark and run their consecutive winning streak to 14-matches dating back to last season. Shanahan averaged 3.85 kills, 0.54 blocks and 0.46 digs while hitting .354 over the four-match week. Against Utah Valley, she recorded 10 kills and two blocks while hitting .500 and followed that up with a 4.00 kill and .326 hitting performance in the tournament. Shanahan was also named the Most Valuable Player of the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic.

 

The Cowgirls remain at home this weekend as they host the UniWyo Wyoming Invite, on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 12-13. They will open up with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, on Friday, at 7:00 p.m.
