In our "Win-At-All-Cost" college landscape, how can we avoid this seemingly endless wave of corruption, pay for play offers, improper actions of boosters and the rest of the list of potential NCAA violations that make the sporting headlines nearly everyday?

Ralph Nader Wants To Eliminate College Athletic Scholarships

Consumer advocate Ralph Nader says, he knows the way to clean up collegiate and prep sports in our nation and is prepared to lead the way.

Mr. Nader is calling for the elimination of college athletic scholarships, saying the move is necessary to "de-professionalize" college athletes.

Nader's League of Fans, a group aimed at reforming sports, proposes that the athletic scholarships be replaced with need-based financial aid. Nader adds that, removing the athletic scholarship carrot would help restore academic integrity to college sports.

Nader, argues that his plan would also help reduce the "win-at-all-costs" mentality in high schools, by reducing the incentive of college athletic scholarships for its players.

I wonder how collegiate financial sponsors and advertisers will feel about this proposal?  What would happen to the world of collegiate sports as we know it? What would it do to our culture as a nation of sports fans?  Would we still support local college athletics and high school sports?

So many questions enter my head just thinking about a world without college athletic scholarships.

But what about you?  What do you think would happen if Ralph Nader is successful in getting the NCAA to eliminate athletic scholarships and what affect would it have on our lives?
