Winter Storm to Impact Wyoming Roads Saturday, Sunday [VIDEO]

A small storm system that is expected to move quickly will likely impact travel across Wyoming from Saturday into Sunday.

Meteorologist Don Day of DayWeather says roads will become icy as the storm moves from north to south. All three segments of interstate running through Wyoming are expected to be impacted.

Day says weather is expected to improve by midday Sunday.

As early as Saturday morning, roads and highways in northern Wyoming should become slick as snow develops in the area. That snow will shift southeast, moving into the Casper area as well as central and east-central Wyoming by early Saturday afternoon.

Light snow should spread into southern Wyoming by Saturday evening.

"This will cause icy roads and highways to develop especially from Casper to Cheyenne along I-25, and also Interstate 80 from near the Nebraska border to near Rawlins, then back up through the Casper area," Day says in his forecast.

The area of Laramie, Cheyenne, Arlington, Elk Mountain, Saratoga, Chugwater, Wheatland and much of the Shirley Basin will see the worst travel conditions -- including icy roads -- Saturday evening into early Sunday.

That includes I-80 from Cheyenne to Rawlins and I-25 from Casper to the Colorado border. Interstate 80 is expected to see a high impact on travel as a result of the storm system, while I-25 and I-90 will likely see a moderate impact.
