The Wyoming Cowgirls begin the 2017 college soccer season Sunday with a match in Waco, TX against the Baylor Bears.

Sixth year head coach Pete Cuadrado returns seven starters and 14 letterwinners from last year's team. UW finished 10-8-2 overall and 6-4-1 in the Mountain West a year ago. Sophomore forward Michaela Stark is one of the returners. She was named to the MW All-Newcomer Team in 2016. Stark led the Cowgirls with six goals and 13 points in 20 matches played.

After an intrasquad scrimmage and an exhibition victory over South Dakota State, 1-0, on Aug. 11, Wyoming begins this season by playing Baylor for the first time. The match starts at 5 p.m., Mountain Time.

The Cowgirls last match against a Big 12 conference foe was at Kansas in 2015, a 2-1 UW win.

Head coach Pete Cuadrado previewed the upcoming season by discussing the preseason, their focus, their opponent and more.

Wyoming will have their home opener on Friday, Aug. 25 at 4:30 p.m. versus Southern Utah.
