The Casper Oilers finished third in the State American Legion Baseball Tournament that wrapped up on Saturday. The Oilers lost to Gillette 9-8 in the Consolation Semis.

Cheyenne Post 6 won their 10th state title in the last 11 years defeating Gillette 14-4 Saturday.  Wheatland was the highest Class A team remaining in the tournament and will advance to their regional tournament in Oregon later this week.  Cheyenne (51-19) will be in Billings for the Northwest Regional Tournament starting on Thursday.

The Casper Ghosts beat Orem Sunday afternoon 7-1 at Lansing Field to open up the second half of the season. Pitcher Geoff Parker picked up his second win of the year striking out seven in six innings of work, giving up three hits. Sam Mende hit his eighth homer of the year. The Ghost are 12-27 overall in Pioneer League action  are in Idaho Falls tonight to start a two game series. Tonight's game starts at 7:05pm and can be heard on AM 1400 ESPN and on am1400espn.com.

The 115th Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo wrapped up yesterday. In the rough stock events, Casey Colletti of Pueblo Colorado beat all the big stars on his way to winning over 18,000 dollars. He had an 89 in the short go, which is nothing less than amazing. In the Bull Riding, Shane Proctor who rodeod in college at Northwest College in Powell and ranked number one in the world took home the buckle with an 88 in the finals. South Dakota cowboy Jesse Bail won the event with an 86 in the finals.

The Colorado Rockies lost to the San Diego Padres on the road Sunday afternoon 8-3. Jesus Guzman drove in three runs as the Padres avoided the sweep from the Rockies. Colorado has tonight off  before Philadelphia with the best record in baseball comes to Coors Field tomorrow night.
