Casper police arrested a man early Monday after he allegedly, while "extremely drunk," fired a pistol inside his home.

Anthony Lee Muckley, 54, was booked into jail on a charge of reckless endangerment. He will likely make his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Monday.

Charging documents say a number of police officers responded 1306 E. 24th Street shortly before 5:30 a.m. Monday for a report of shots fired. The reporting party told dispatch that her stepfather -- Muckley -- was drunk and firing guns inside the home.

The woman who called police said there were numerous firearms inside the house and Muckley had shot the stairs as she was leaving the home.

Officers set a perimeter around the residence and tried to call Muckley's phone. As they continued to try contacting Muckley, the front door of the house opened and Muckley stood in the doorway.

Police ordered Muckley to show his hands and walk out of the house. According to the affidavit, Muckley was holding what was later identified as a .357 Ruger revolver.

Officers ordered Muckley to drop the gun, which he did. Muckley followed officers' commands and was arrested in the middle of 24th Street.

According to court documents, Muckley was obviously intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. As he was being arrested, Muckley reportedly asked, "What's going on?"

The woman who called police later told officers that she and two others had been inside the house when Muckley fired a gun at the stairs next to his foot. She and the other two did not feel safe inside the house, so they left and called police.

Another witness told police that Muckley was "extremely drunk" and likely did not know what he was doing. She said she did not believe Muckley to be suicidal, and that he had never indicated a desire to harm himself.

Muckley was taken to Wyoming Medical Center for clearance before being booked into jail. At the hospital, he asked an officer "What's going on?" Muckley also said he "did not know what happened," and that the last thing he remembered was "going to sleep and waking up in a cop car."

Meanwhile, at Muckley's house, officers found a .44 magnum revolver with one spent cartridge in the cylinder.

A portable breath test administered to Muckley upon his arrival at the Natrona County Detention Center reportedly showed a blood-alcohol concentration of .188.
