Two Evansville residents were arrested Monday after state agents visited their home for a compliance check and found methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Michael Jelio Davis, 22, and 20-year-old Brittany Ferris Tennyson were each booked into jail on a recommended charge of child endangerment with methamphetamine. They will likely make their initial appearances in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Charging papers say that a Casper police officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of 5th Street in Evansville at 3:15 p.m. Monday to assist other agencies. State probation agents, as well as Department of Family Services workers, were at the home to conduct a compliance check after both agencies received information regarding drug use in the home around children.

The information directly concerned Tennyson and Davis, who are both current Probation and Parole clients.

Tennyson answered the door, saying Davis had fled toward the south end of the home after hearing agents announce themselves at the front door. Davis was found hiding in a bedroom closet.

When confronted with the allegations, police say Tennyson and Davis admitted to using meth by snorting and smoking the drug. Tennyson said she last smoked on Saturday, and Davis claimed to have last used on Friday.

Tennyson told police that she did not use meth when accompanied by the children, but she did admit to caring for them afterward while she was high.

During the home compliance search, the Casper officer found a small straw, allegedly used to snort methamphetamine, on a small table next to a baby bassinet.

Police say "the methamphetamine paraphernalia was left out in a manner which would have been easily accessible to both children, the location itself was reckless and extremely hazardous to the children's welfare."

Tennyson and Davis were taken to jail.
