Dusty Baker was named the new manager of the Washington Nationals.

It had been rumored for weeks that Bud Black was on the Nationals radar, however the two sides could not agree on a contract. Some reports say Black was offered a deal less than $2 million.

Baker 66, played 19 seasons in the Majors. He's 17th on the list of the most wins in baseball history. Baker is second among active mangers behind on the Giants Bruce Bochy.

Baker has previously managed the San Francisco Giants from 1993 to 2002, the Chicago Cubs from 2003 to 2006 and the Cincinnati Reds from 2008 to 2013.

Nationals Owner Ted Lerner said in a press release that the team had sought a manager "to help us achieve our ultimate goal of competing for a World Series championship."

"Ultimately," Baker added, "it was clear that Dusty's deep experience was the best fit for our ballclub."

Baker has managed teams to 90 victories in a season eight times in 20 years as a manager. He is also one of only six managers in MLB history to win a division title with at least three different teams.
