NC Takes 2nd, KW 6th In State Wrestling

The Casper schools enjoyed a great deal of success in wrestling this season as Natrona took 2nd in the 4A State Tournament over the weekend at the Casper Events Center with Kelly Walsh taking 6th. Natrona had one individual champion and that was Brett Brenton at 152 pounds who pinned Wyatt Yenney of Rock Springs for the title. It's been an emotional year for Brenton who lost his girlfriend in an automobile accident last month. Brenton was the 4A champion at 138 pounds a year ago. 113 pounder Dylan Anderson of NC lost his state championship match to Justin Flores of Green River. Mustang grappler John Gasperetti was defeated in the state finals by Trevor Jefferies of Gillette at 138. Natrona's Dan Slack lost his title match at 182 to Andrew Nicholson of Cheyenne Central. Kelly Walsh who finished last at the state tournament a year ago had one individual champion in 106 pounder Jace Palmer who beat defending state champion Cyro Montoya of Green River. at 120 pounds, Caleb Nathan of KW lost a controversial decision in his championship match to Cameron Metcalf of Rock Springs. At 145 pounds, Javen Palmer from the Trojan stable lost an excruciating match to Kaden Schriner of Laramie. Kelly Walsh's Dylan Jaure was defeated 5-3 in his title match with Seth Green of Cheyenne East.
