The Casper Oilers started off on the right foot Thursday with a win in the George Tani Tournament being held at Mike Lansing Field. The Oilers defeated Colorado Baseball Academy 10-7.

The Oilers put the game away with 6 runs in the 6th inning. Casper 24-22 will play Gallatin Valley, Montana tonight at 8pm at Lansing Field.

The Casper Cutthroats has the day off today before they head to Laramie Saturday. The Cutthroats are 10-10 on the season after losing 3 straight to Fort Collins at home. Casper had won 9 straight home games to start the season prior to the Fort Collins series.

The Colorado Rockies blew a 7 run lead, but managed to beat Washington Thursday 11-10 in 11-innings. Marco Scuturo drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the 11th, and Tyler Colvin drove in 5 runs. So the Rockies earned a split in the series. Colorado host San Diego tonight at Coors Field.

At the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon Casper's Baillie Gibson advanced to the finals in the women's shot put by finishing 9th with a throw of 55 feet 2 inches. The top 3 will advance to the London Olympics. Gibson going into the finals is about 6 feet shy of the 3rd place finisher in the prelims. Cheyenne native Brandan Ames will compete in the prelims of the 110 hurdles.

The NBA Draft was held last night and the University of Kentucky made history by having the first two players selected in the draft. New Orleans picked Anthony Davis first who averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots a game for the national champions. Then Charlotte selected Michael Kidd-Gilchrist with the 2nd pick overall. Kentucky had 4 players picked in the first round and 2 more in the 2nd round.
