The Wyoming Cowboys begin a busy week of basketball starting tonight and continuing Thursday and Friday night. Tonight the Pokes host North Carolina Central in the Global Sports Hoops Classic at the AA. Wyoming is 1-0 after a 62-42 win over Western State on Saturday night at the AA. UW with a rotten night of shooting the ball, just 35 percent from the field and 30 percent in the first half. Wyoming had two in double figures, Derrious Gilmore had 19 and Leonard Washington with 16. North Carolina Central is 1-1 on the season. Tip-off is at 7:00pm on AM 1030 KTWO. The Cowboys will play South Dakota Thursday night and Southern University of Friday night.

New Colorado Rockies Manager Walt Weiss has hired former Rockie slugger Dante Bichette to come on board as the teams hitting coach. Bichette was a 4-time all star and retired after the 2001 season. Bichette had a career batting average of .299 with 274 home runs and 1141 RBI's.

Baseball Managers of the Year Awards were announced on Tuesday. Davey Johnson of Washington won the NL award as the Nationals had their first winning season ever and made the playoffs. Oakland's Bob Melvin won the AL award Leading the A's to the Western Division title with 94 wins despite one of the lowest payrolls in the majors.
